Our company constantly monitors the Hungarian real estate market, and as soon as an opportunity is spotted in one of them, we immediately like to grab it. Unfortunately, real estate prices have gone up extremely and it is getting harder and harder to find a suitable piece of real estate. Another negative tendency is that more and more talented young professionals are leaving the country. We remain positive, however, that we can continue to grow and expand at the past rate and make our services available to even more dog loving people.

The beginning of the Dogmopolite story goes back to 2010. The Labrador of the grandmother of founder and General Manager, Peter Gardos, was regularly walked and taken care of during the day by a young dog lover, Robert. This was the year that Peter decided that canine services can be provided in Hungary also under more professional circumstances – comprehensively, and, until then, from a single provider. The brand name Dogmopolite was born, as was the first version of its homepage and a tiny team of walkers. The first colleague, Robert, was walking and transporting dogs, our first dog boarding “facility” was the house maid’s room adjacent to grandmother’s villa in the second district of Budapest, under Branyiszkó út 5., on 20 square metres. We quickly outgrew this little place, which was followed by a 120-square-metre house in the same district. From there we again had to move quite soon, and opened the first dedicated dog boarding facility in district 10. After that came the opening of our first grooming salon in district 6, followed by our second dog boarding facility, this time on the Buda side, in district 11. Still this year we opened our second dog grooming salon in district 2, then, one year later in district 3. In 2016 we opened our fourth dog grooming salon in district 14 Budapest, the the Sugár Mall. In 2018 we opened our third dog boarding facility in Szentendre. In 2019 year we moved our dog boarding facility from district 10 to Szigetszentmiklós, a 900-square-metre large building with a 4000-square-metre garden. We managed to expand the scope of our activities throughout the years. In addition to dog training, our dog grooming salons offer an ever wider array of beauty services. We are also proud to have a dedicated driver colleague – for over 6 years now. In 2013 our company joined the Florida-based IACP, the same year we also joined the Austrian Grooming Association – which dissolved in 2016. That same your we joined the British PIF (Pet Industry Federation). Our goal is to maintain our market leading position in Hungary – for this, as well as for the comfort of all our dear clients, we do not regret a single dime (or Forint, in our case) to invest in anything that makes us even better.

As most companies nowadays, our company also puts great emphasis on its social media presence. This is not only a convenient way of sharing company news, but this is where we regularly upload dog boarding life albums from all our boarding facilities, and this is also a platform where we create and keep contact with our clients and other interest groups. Yes, our company is member of not only one foreign-based professional association, what is absolutely unique on the Hungarian canine services provider market.

Our company joined the Florida, USA-based IACP (International Association of Canine Professionals) in 2013 and has been a full, professional member ever since – with this we can say that we are the first and only company in this industry in Hungary being admitted in a professional association of such an international reputation and serious set of requirements towards its members.

In addition, Dogmopolite is the first and only Hungarian canine services provider company that is member of the British PIF, that is the British Pet Industry Federation.

The Pet Industry Federation combines five specialist trade associations under one umbrella group. Federation members are pet industry specialists and include groomers, pet boarders, pet retailers and manufacturers. the PIF is the only organisation to represent all the different sectors of the pet industry, having thus a stronger voice regarding lobbying and making its interests heard throughout the globe.

The Pet Industry Federation offers industry-led qualifications and training in dog grooming, pet retail and kennel & cattery management and organises pet trade events. Membership of the Federation offers a hallmark of quality: all of their members agree to abide by sector specific charters to demonstrate good practice.

Under the umbrella of PIF, our company is member of the British Dog Groomers’ Association, the UK Pet Services Association as well as the UK Kennel & Cattery Association.

In light of our commitment towards professional service provision and health- and material-related values, our company disposes of a general and service liability insurance up to HUF 10 million covering any potential health or property damage.

Our company is in direct contact with two logistics companies who deal with the comprehensive task of transporting your dog via air, sea or road abroad. We are happy to connect you with these companies.

Our company has extensive experience and is happy to organize the entire procedure of preparing your dog for export in case your country of residence changes. Many people underestimate this set of tasks, of which not only the sequence, but also its content is strictly specified according to international conventions. Unfortunately, if not all examinations are done, not all documents, certificates are filled in according to the requirements, then it can easily happen that your dog’s entering into the country is denied and is turned back to the country of origin at the point of arrival (usually the cargo terminal of the airport).

These exams (without attempting to be comprehensive) can be anti-rabies (RNATT) tests, official blood titre certifications by a state veterinary, repeated vaccinations, IFAT, ELISA, Brucellosis, Leishmaniosis, Leptospirosis tests, vaccinations with different timing against distemper, infectious hepatitis (canine advenovirus), canine parvovirus (parvo), para-influenza and Bordetella bronchiseptica, blood sampling by an internationally approved blood sampling institute, repeated treatments against ticks, fleas, internal and external parasites, filling in and mailing of documents and certificates… and the list goes on.

Our beautiful, plastic card gift vouchers are available for purchase at all our locations, which are: Szentendre, district 11 of Budapest and Szigetszentmiklós (our boarding facilities), as well as in districts 2, 3, 6 and 14 of Budapest (our dog grooming salons). The gift vouchers can also be purchased via regular mail service by wire transfer. The gift vouchers have no expiry, can be used without time limitation for every and any service of ours.
